Hello friends and family, I have some big news…

I am moving to Peru. It has been a dream of mine to find a way of living down here and the Lord has showed me a way. Over the past few years God has been at work in my heart leading me toward working in missions in Peru. In the fall of 2016, during a three month stay in Peru, I reconnected with the Brock Family. Even though they have known me since I was just a kid, it was the first time I had spent time with them in my adult life. I know now that the Lord had gone before me because we got along from the very start. By the time that I returned home from this trip to Peru, I knew that I would be returning in the future to help the Brocks in their work. I decided to go back to school and study Parks and Recreation Management in order to be of more help to them in their goal of building a Christ centered adventure camp for kids and young adults. This camp will offer an array of things from horseback riding to rock climbing and will be the only thing like it in this section of the Amazon Jungle. I am looking forward to being a part of this project and of what the Lord will be able to do through it.

Looking ahead at moving down here, the Lord has equipped me with unique opportunities that have allowed me to make this possible. For the past few years I have been working on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, as well as Commercial Fishing in Alaska in the summer time. These jobs have not only allowed me to grow in my career; but also, they will allow me to work 4-5 months out of the year in the states to help supplement my support while I am working down in Peru.  I am excited to make Pucallpa, Peru my home. While I have plenty of things to do before I officially move down here, it is comforting knowing that God is guiding my steps.

In terms of moving down here, there will be plenty of things I will have to do to establish my home here. I will be staying on the Petra Missions Base with the Brock family during my time in Pucallpa. We are looking to build a house for myself on the property that can be used by tribal missionaries when I am not around. If you are interested in learning more about what I will be doing in Peru or in supporting me through prayer you can contact me personally at mike.hocking.huls@gmail.com or at +1(480)-399-6653. If you are interested in supporting me financially I have a non-tax deductible option through PayPal. I am working on a tax-deductible option that I hope to have available by the end of January.

Cheers,
