Word.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14
For Christmas, after a long, quiet year by ourselves God gave us a delightful, extended-family houseful! Mikey has been here working with us this month, and he fits so easily into our family! His mother and siblings came down to spend Christmas in Peru, and we were honored to have them here for Christmas Eve dinner. What a precious gift! A couple of weeks before Christmas Corynn received the news that one of her best friends was coming from Germany to spend Christmas with us! Truly, a gift beyond words.
Vann started the construction of the chapel for the camp, but the torrential rains have begun which brings nearly everything to a screeching halt. The camp bathhouses now have counters and benches built in, and Mikey has cleaned out the cabins and assembled all of the bunkbeds – it’s beginning to look a lot like a camp! We are so grateful for his diligent work on this base.
Vann is also rebuilding the apartment porch and stairs before the return of the missionary family that lives there. It had rotted completely through, and was a danger to use, so he is welding up a new one with galvanized steel – which should last longer than the wooden one did! The walls are up on Mikey’s house – next is to roof both of the missionary houses that are only foundations and walls right now.
There have been many hosting opportunities here throughout December – Christmas cookie exchanges, Bible studies, Christmas MK youth group, etc. We love serving people and having the opportunity to do so again is a blessing!
Corynn turned 18 years old yesterday! She is such a treasure. She does everything well with a kind and loving spirit that attracts people to her. We are so excited for all that God is going to do for her and through her precious life!
2020. It has brought change, and with it the need to be flexible. Flexibility – “the ability to change my plans in order to serve those around me” is a definition that has stuck with me from my childhood, and one that I believe shows the priority that God places on loving others above ourselves. May we find opportunities to show deference and love to one another this year for the glory of His great name!
“The only thing that keeps me stable and settled in these days of uncertainty is the absolute dependability of God’s word.”- Elisabeth Elliot
